Hello, I'm Sue Field, the cake designer, baker and decorator at Finesse Cakes in Hockley, Essex, and my passion is creating beautiful, bespoke cakes for your most special occasions.
My journey into the world of cakes began in 1999 when I designed and decorated my own wedding cake. Having always loved expressing my creativity through model making, I wanted to bring that personal touch to our celebration. Since my husband's grandfather was baking the cake, decorating it was the perfect creative outlet. With no previous experience I completed a couple of local courses in flower making and piping and from that moment I was hooked.
After having two lovely children, much of my early work focused on their birthday cakes and commissions for close friends. As they grew older, I dedicated more time to Finesse Cakes, officially launching in April 2009 after achieving a 5-Star Food Hygiene Rating from Rochford District Council.
Finesse Cakes has now grown into an established and highly reputable award winning business which is recommended by several prestigious local venues including The Lawn - Rochford (where I celebrated my own wedding), Apton Hall - Rochford and The Rayleigh Club. It has also been regularly featured in local and national press.
I have had the pleasure of creating hundreds of bespoke cakes for my wonderful clients and nothing means more to me than knowing how much they have appreciated their cakes and seeing them return time and again to celebrate new milestones. It is a real pleasure and honour to continue playing a part in such cherished and special celebrations.
