Although I usually only create cakes for venues in Essex, this wedding cake delivery was an exception as it was for my beautiful neice April (and I was a guest as well - yay!!).
This wedding was the smaller official part in the UK before we all headed off to Ibiza in September for the real party and celebrations. Their UK wedding was a small gathering at St Albans Register Office and then onto Lussmann's Restaurant nestled close to the stunning cathedral.
April's cake featured a contemporary textured "messy" fondant icing with torn top edges, scattered tiny edible pearls and, my favourite part of cake decorating, a large ornamental open icing peony.
The cake was 2 tiers of traditional sponge using our family recipe, one tier was layered with butter icing and raspberry jam and the other was layered with butter icing with chopped up milk chocolate button - a filling that "Grandma", my late mum, always used for the grandkids' cakes.
Got to say, Lussman's did a great job hosting April and Grant's wedding reception, but the Ibiza party was just stunning (thankfully I didn't have to try and travel to Ibiza with a cake!).
The biggest congratulations to this very beautiful couple and wishing them a life of laughter, love and more cake!!
